Welcome!
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Explorer Program was conceived by the Sheriff's Office in 1995. It has grown to the present authorization by the Sheriff for the appointment of thirty Explorers within our organization.
The Explorer Program is in effect to attract young, well-qualified men and women to participate in an organized on-the-job training program, which includes instruction in the duties, responsibilities, methods and techniques of the Office. It is designated to better qualify the members for positions of Peace Officer when they have reached the age of twenty-one.
Persons participating in the Forsyth County Sheriff's Explorer Program are expected to gain practical knowledge of the functions of the Sheriff's Office and some of the basic theories of law enforcement.
Explorers attending college and university police science, criminology, and other related academic and science courses will be afforded the opportunity to correlate this education with actual performance on the Sheriff's Office. The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office hopes that in this manner we may be able to better train young men and women for a future in law enforcement.
